Monsanto Asks World Health Organization to ‘Retract’ Cancer Link

Will the WHO make the change?

By Natural Society
Posted On March 25, 2015

Just days after the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer released a report publicly declaring the well-known link between Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide and cancer, the GMO leviathan is already calling on the entire agency to issue a ‘retraction.’

Recently, Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide – the most widely used and best-selling herbicide in the U.S. and one of the world’s most popular weed-killers – has been labeled a probable carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. Now Monsanto is fighting that assessment.

As reported by The Lancet:

“In March, 2015, 17 experts from 11 countries met at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC; Lyon, France) to assess the carcinogenicity of the organophosphate pesticides tetrachlorvinphos, parathion, malathion, diazinon, and glyphosate (table). These assessments will be published as volume 112 of the IARC Monographs.”

Instead of deciding to make the product safer, or even delving into the realm of the conclusion from the scientists that Roundup is ‘probably carcinogenic (cancer-causing) to humans,’ Monsanto instead stated that they ‘question’ the assessment.

“We question the quality of the assessment,”the vice president of global regulatory affairs for Monsanto, Philip Miller, stated in an interview.  “The WHO has something to explain.”

I think Monsanto has something to explain. And so do many scientific experts around the globe.

“There are a number of independent, published manuscripts that clearly indicate that glyphosate … can promote cancer and tumor growth,” said Dave Schubert, from the cellular neurobiology laboratory at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California. “It should be banned.”

Numerous past studies have proposed what most of us have already surmised, that glyphosate – the main ingredient in Monsanto’s RoundUp – is utterly killing us. What’s more – it is causing damage in much smaller servings than the agriculture industry is dishing out in its common GMO and pesticide spraying practices.

With the already existing plethora of research pointing towards Roundup’s dangers, as well as this most recent assessment from the WHO, I think we have reason enough to find a better way to stop weeds.

I assume everyone – and that includes the hapless GMO Roberts – is aware of the recently published book by Steven Druker entitled ‘Altered Genes, Twisted Truth: How The Venture To Genetically Engineer Our Food Has Subverted Science, Corrupted Government, And Systematically Deceived The Public’, with a forward by the eminent and world-renowned scientist Jane Goodall. If not, check it out on amazon.

Biological impact of feeding rats with a genetically modified-based diet

This work was conducted in the context of post-marketing bio-safety assessment of genetically modified products. It presents a systematic approach based on a chronic toxicity study on Wistar albino rats, with a range of combined parameters including biochemical, histopathological, and cytogenetic to evaluate the negative impact of a genetically modified (GM) diet on animal health. Histopathological and biochemical analysis procedures were performed in the liver, kidney, and testis.
Cytogenetic analysis was evaluated in germ cells and the liver. The results revealed that the laboratory diet used in our investigation was proved experimentally, using the PCR assay, to contain genetically modified components without being labeled as such. The results of all parameters evaluated in our investigation were consistent and confirm that the GM diet fed to rats for 30, 60, or 90 days has deleterious histopathological and histochemical impacts. Biochemical alterations in
alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, creatinine, uric acid, and malondialdehyde concentrations were also observed. Genotoxicity of the GM diet was also demonstrated in germ cells as increased numbers of cells with chromosomal aberrations and in liver cells as increased ratios of DNA fragmentation. In conclusion, the results of the present work indicate that there are health hazards linked to the ingestion of diets containing genetically modified components.

    Rep.
Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) didn’t like the fact that consumer groups renamed
his bill to kill state GMO labeling laws the “Deny Americans the Right
to Know (DARK) Act.” So, in order to appear to be on the side of
consumers who want the right to know if their food contains GMOs, Pompeo
has reintroduced the bill, [LINK TO COME] with a new plan.

The new-and-improved (but really much worse)
DARK Act would still do what it set out to do—strip states of their
century-old rights to pass food labeling laws. But the bill now also
includes a scheme for a national, uniform standard for labeling products
non-GMO—a new program that would be overseen by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Really? Pompeo, a member of the Republican Party which
purports to stand for states’ rights and is allegedly anti-big
government, wants to create yet another federal government-run program?
This time, to certify non-GMO? We fail to see how that’s preferable to
just requiring food manufacturers to do what they already do in more
than 60 other countries—simply state whether or not their products
    contain GMOS?

The DARK Act 2.0 was introduced on the heels of a
hearing held this week by the House Committee on Agriculture to, the
committee said, examine the “Cost and Impacts of States Implementing
Mandatory Biotechnology Labeling Laws.” During that hearing, industry
trotted out all of its talking points, including false claims that
labeling will cost food manufacturers millions of dollars, a cost
they’ll have to pass on to consumers. Never mind that study after study
has proven otherwise. That food manufacturers change their labels all
the time. And that in countries where GMO labeling is required, costs
have not been passed on to consumers.

Pompeo’s bill has nothing to do with protecting
consumer or states’ rights, and everything to do with protecting the
profits of those companies—like Monsanto and Coca-Cola—who have
essentially written this law. It’s an outrage. And we will do everything
in our power to stop it dead in its tracks.

You can’t see? That is because you are blind. Open your eyes, you already have organic and non gmo why do you need another label? Not smart enough to connect the dots? Anything else would be considered gmo without any extra cost of labeling for those that didn’t want the label anyway. Everybody wins, but no that isn’t good enough for a shiner like you johnny. After all you don’t even have a clue as to what type of government we have so you really have no right to an opinion as to what they do.

Funny how Monsanto didn’t even have six billion in crop protection sales total let alone roundup according to their 2014 report johnny boy. And the WHO report that you are so worried about also states those at risk are the ag workers such as myself that deal with the product not the consumer. It is a shame that your argument is so weak you feel you must lie. But of course what would you expect from someone that doesn’t even know what kind of government we have.

youre right we have a crappy system. it is so crappy that the fda leaves it up to manufacturers to test safety of products. Lol of course the manufacturers find no health issues with their products. that is the sad truth. also the consumer is at risk because its not like we can wash that bs off food. GMO food is toxic. the environment is being destroyed from toxic products and toxic creations deemed safe. Its weird how many of the people that promote GMO won’t eat GMO toxified foods.

First of all what good would it do to fake the studies? If they did it would come out eventually and that would lead to jail time, fines, and more money lost in lawsuits than ever made. To think that a company would risk that is just wrong. Secondly, gmos are only toxic to the insects and then only if the bt genes are present. There is no research that says otherwise, except the few studies that have easily been torn apart by real scientists. I’m sure you do not believe that, but the real telling story isn’t in any tests results but how many times you can duplicate those results. Gmos have been proven safe in thousands of trials and in real world applications for almost twenty years. On the flip side no one has ever been able to recreate the findings of any of the studies you would point to as evidence. As far as your last line, I am proud to put locally raised gmo beef and sweet corn on the table for my family and am looking forward to giving the new gmo apples a try as soon as they arrive.

Nothing, because the two aren’t related. As far as your ban is concerned isn’t it strange that Europe is one of the largest importer of gmo corn? If they ban it then why import it? If all of Europe has banned it then what did Spain do with the 137,000 hectares of gmos they planted in 2013?

“First of all what good would it do to fake the studies? If they did it
would come out eventually and that would lead to jail time, fines, and
more money lost in lawsuits than ever made.”
The studies are secret only to Monsanto.
What do they risk? They just get a little slap on the risk. Monsanto has already been found guilty many times- they get a little fine and continue breaking the law.
It is really easy to falsify studies:
““Fifty-seven published clinical trials were identified for which an FDA
inspection of a trial site had found significant evidence of 1 or more
of the following problems: falsification or submission of false
information, 22 trials (39%); problems with adverse events reporting, 14
trials (25%); protocol violations, 42 trials (74%); inadequate or
inaccurate recordkeeping, 35 trials (61%); failure to protect the safety
of patients and/or issues with oversight or informed consent, 30 trials
(53%); and violations not otherwise categorized, 20 trials (35%).””

“Did you see the latest indictment of Monsanto making the rounds? It’s a “peer-reviewed” paper in the journal Entropy, co-authored by Anthony Samsel and Stephanie Seneff, blaming glyphosate, the compound in the herbicide Roundup, for virtually all the ills that can befall us.

But here’s the thing — they made it up. Or, all but. They say, “We explain the documented effects of glyphosate and its ability to induce disease, and we show that glyphosate is a ‘textbook example’ of exogenous semiotic entropy: the disruption of homeostasis by environmental toxins.” Exogenous semiotic entropy! That sounds serious. Google it, though, and you find that those three words occur together in only place. This paper. They made it up. At first, I thought the whole thing was one of those jargon-laden academic hoaxes but, alas, it isn’t.”

Your problem is you are taking this way to personal. “His” product? who is he? No one person has did anything . The next problem is that there are a lot of gmos here that have nothing to do with roundup. Your next statement is simply false because there are billions of people consuming gmos everyday, they are sick or deformed and the population continues to grow so they can’t be that sterile either.

    Tell
the EPA: Ban Monsanto’s Cancer-Causing Roundup Herbicide – See more at:

    http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/o/50865/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=16052#sthash.4R3etqMJ.dpuf

Glyphosate, the main ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, is probably causing cancer in humans.

That’s according to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) panel of cancer experts, which published its latest review of the cancer risks of glyphosate on March 20, 2015.
The timing of this new report couldn’t be better. Why? Glyphosate is currently under review by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which has the power to ban its use in Roundup, or anywhere else.

TAKE ACTION! Tell the EPA to ban glyphosate. Please add your own comments, especially if you or your family members have been sickened from exposure to glyphosate. Monsanto has already rushed to attack this latest science, published by credible international scientists at WHO. Just as the Gene Giant has attacked every credible independent scientist in the past.
And it’s no wonder. Monsanto’s $6 billion in annual sales of glyphosate are at stake. At what point will U.S. regulators start believing the scientists, instead of pandering to Monsanto?
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) does not test foods for glyphosate residues because the agency says it’s “too expensive.”
In 2013, the EPA raised the allowed limits of glyphosate residue for various crops, including soybean oil and potatoes. Driving the increase in glyphosate use are GMO crops that have been engineered to tolerate the constant, direct application of the herbicide. These so-called “Roundup Ready” crops—soy, corn, cotton, canola, sugar beets and alfalfa—have generated a tenfold increase.
According to Charles Benbrook, Ph.D., of Washington State University, data shows that U.S. farmers used enough glyphosate in 2014 to apply theequivalent of almost three-quarters of a pound on every acre of farmland used to grow crops. Worldwide, 99.7 percent of GMO crops are pesticide plants.

Now that WHO has made clear that all of this glyphosate is probably causing cancer, it’s time for the EPA to take action and once and for all ban this dangerous chemical that is making people sick and polluting our environment.

In addition to threatening human health, the use of glyphosate is destroying the monarch butterfly habitat—milkweed plants that use to thrive in corn and soybean fields. The monarch population has suffered a 97-percent loss since the introduction of Monsanto’s Roundup Ready crops.

Please tell the U.S. EPA to do its job: Ban glyphosate now.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall to see how many scientists Monsanto tries to bribe. I am sure it would be hard to resist given Monsanto’s bribe budget must be in the millions. I hope the scientists remain committed to this humanitarian cause and don’t let this toxic giant bully their way to success on lies and deceit.
